Attention Geography Buffs:

ExCEL hosts the local homeschool National Geographic Bee each year. Area homeschoolers in grades 4th-8th are welcome to come participate. The bee is normally held in December or January. The local winner takes a qualifying test and the top 100 students in the State compete at the State Bee in late March/early April. The State winner represents Washington at the National Geographic Bee held in May in Washington, D.C. The National winner is awarded a $25,000 college scholarship! ExCEL has hosted the local bee since 2002. Each year our local winner has gone on to the State Bee. In 2003, our ExCEL winner - James Williams, took 1st place in Washington State and then went on win the National Bee!
