III. Fees: Our goal is to charge the least we can and still be in the black.
1. ExCEL Membership annual fee: $20
This is once for the year.
2. Family Registration fee for ECHO: $35 per semester
This fee and the class fees buy curriculum and non-consumable supplies for co-op classes, office and cleaning supplies as well as pay Science Olympiad kids to clean up for us--an SO fund raiser.
3. Class Fee: $3 per class per child
4. Supply Fees: These are for consumable supplies students take home & are determined by the class instructor.
5. Late Registration Fee for Fall Term: $10 after December 1st, 2006.
IV. Participation: We are a co-op. You are required to help when your kids are in class, but some kinds of participation will allow for free periods to allow you to get the work done while you are there or at least to reward you a little for doing it at home. Some areas of participation are:
1. Assistants: Assistants are required to actively help the teacher and fill in for a teacher in her absence. They are not required to do any planning or prep work.
2. Teachers and co-teachers: Teachers can have one period off if they desire to plan and prepare.
Note: Teachers still get first choice of classes for their kids, since it’s important that teachers’ kids get into classes so they can teach.
3. Clean-up Director, who oversees the clean-up team, staying to inspect, making sure the job is done well. Clean up should be done by 4:00 most days. (2 periods off if desired --Position is available.)
4. Supply Manager, who oversees supplies, keeping the supply areas tidy and organized and purchasing more supplies as needed. Supply manager gets 1 scheduled period off to do this. (April Boneski with Leann.)
5. Journalism Teacher/Newsletter Coordinator—2 periods off. This person needs to produce our newsletter –3-4 times per year and reports to the ExCEL board. (Jodi VanGelder)
6. SO Coaches are required to help with ECHO during the morning if their kids are there in the morning. They are relieved of helping ECHO during the after-lunch hours only if they are actively coaching in Science Olympiad. If they coach one hour only, they need to help with ECHO during the other if they have kids involved in ECHO in the afternoon.
7. Hall Monitors/back ups: Parents who are assisting or teaching at least 2 hours can sign up for up to one hour as hall monitor/back up personnel. Parents in this position will be stationed in the Lobby when not performing other duties. They will ring the bells at the beginning and end of class session and will be available to make sure children are not roaming the halls. They will also be available to fill in for absent assistants in classes or childcare.
V. Absences: In case of an absence
1. Teachers: Notify assistant (if there is not a co-teacher) & provide assistant with whatever is needed to run class.
2. Teachers & Assistants: Ideally, email Leann Collins (leann.collins@juno.com ) with any absences that are apparent before the day of co-op. Call Leann (360-837-1162) if the change occurs the night before or the morning of co-op.
VI. Check the chalkboard in the lobby: for announcements when you come in and check your file folder before you leave for any messages or information for you personally.
